Casio made waves last years when they released a series of ring watches, which were literal finger-worn jewelry with a miniaturized watch case on top. They were awesome, offering something truly unique to digital watch fans. This time around, they’re bringing the same treatment to the G-Shock brand in the form of the Casio G-Shock Nano DWN5600-1.
That’s right, Casio is now making finger-sized versions of one of their G-Shock models, allowing you to wear a rugged timepiece on one of your digits. It’s a classic-looking G-Shock, too, with full resin construction, so you can accessorize with a bit of retro flair. Unlike Casio’s ring watches from last year, by the way, it doesn’t use solid ring bands, instead coming a miniature strap and buckle just like the full-size timepiece.

The Casio G-Shock Nano DWN5600-1 is a miniature ring-sized version of the iconic DW-5600 watch, recreating every bit of the look and styling from the original. According to the outfit, this is around 1/10th the size of the original, which probably made for quite the fun challenge for their engineers. While it’s not able to recreate the exact display layout as the bigger timepiece (screen’s too small), it does show the time clearly, which is what most people need from it. It even recreates the buttons on the sides, which have been made ridiculously small to maintain the correct proportions.
One of the buttons control the small pulsing light for when you need to check the time in the dark, while another lets you switch to a different display mode. The top left button lets you adjust the time and date, so they, basically, offer the same functions as the standard-sized version. And yes, it’s got all the basic features you expect from a Casio timepiece, including dual time, stopwatch, and auto-calendar.

The Casio G-Shock Nano DWN5600-1 supposedly gets the same shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance as standard G-Shock watches, so you can get just as wild and rowdy when wearing these things. Suffice to say, you don’t have to worry when wearing this while adventuring outdoors. Unlike the ring watches Casio released before, which required you to remove the front module to swap batteries, the battery on this thing can be replaced via the case back like a traditional watch. The case back is screwed down on four corners, by the way, so you’ll need a really tiny screwdriver if you want to fiddle with this thing.

Dimensions are 23.4 x 20 x 7.5mm for the watch case, which makes it genuinely small enough to wear on most people’s fingers. And since it wears like a watch with an adjustable band, it should fit most individuals, regardless of their finger size, which is much nicer than the fixed sizes of Casio’s previous ring watches. According to the outfit, the ring watch will be made available in the three most popular colors in the DW-5600’s history, namely black, yellow, and red. Each ring watch comes in a special package with its own silicone stand, so you can show it off on your nightstand if you’re not wearing it for the day.
The Casio G-Shock Nano DWN5600-1 is listed as coming soon on Casio’s website. Price is $110.
