A poetry trail is being created in North East Lincolnshire to celebrate the area and its people.
Love Your Town: Words on the Way is billed as “a celebration of love for our communities” and will take place in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Immingham.
It runs from 8 February through to 22 February, with a series of poems displayed at retailers in the three towns.
The project, which is a partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council and Grimsby-based organisation Red Sail, is seeking submissions from aspiring local poets to be considered for inclusion.
Alex and Sam from Red Sail said: “We strongly believe that there is a poet in all of us.
“There’s no greater inspiration for words than the love for our local communities, and [our area] has community pride in abundance.
“This project will offer a much-needed opportunity for people to pause, reflect, and celebrate the community bonds that unite us all.”
Themes include celebrating community spirit, local landmarks or tradition, and personal stories. Poems can be submitted online.
There will also be a potential opportunity for people to have their poetry exhibited after the event, organisers said.
